The collection consists of an 18 minute videotape entitled, Roger Revelle: The Man Who Took Scripps to Sea which outlines the career of oceanographer Roger Revelle and focuses on his effort to build a postwar research fleet at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego and undertake a series of Pacific expeditions. The videotape is narrated by Neil Morgan. The videotape was produced for the Revelle Revelry, an October 5, 1996 fundraising dinner celebrating the addition of the R/V ROGER REVELLE to the oceanographic fleet of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
